Christmas with the California Raisins

The California Raisins combined at least two talents that I admire.

Buddy Miles

Buddy recorded the California Raisins commercial featuring claymation dancing raisins. It's the most successful commercial in television history! Buddy recorded and producedand performed in 3 more California Raisins albums.

Buddy is helping to raise money for several organizations and sponsors that support Hurricane / Disaster Relief efforts and The Children's Craniofacial Association.

Will Vinton

Will Directed and Produced some of the best know animated characters in the world, including The California Raisins and the "CG" ("Computer Animated") M&Ms "Red" and "Yellow".

I am a fan of Animation and in terms of Claymation, Will Vinton is one of the best. In fact, I was 1st exposed to high quality claymation in the Spike and Mike animation festival at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco many years ago. One of Will's animations was featured, and my interest was piqued.

His work in the California Raisin commercials along with Buddy's voice and musical contributions made these ads some of the most successful in history.

Keith Emerson - The Christmas Album

Keith Emerson, is the keyboard virtuoso member of the Classic Rock band ELP. Keith released this solo album in 1988. The album is unlike any Christmas music I have in my collection.

ELP's Brain Salad surgery was one of those albums in my collection that I would routinely play in it's entirety. Unlike others that would get one or 2 tracks in my playlist, this warranted a listen.

This Christmas Album has the same qualities. In fact, unlike other Christmas music, I would venture to say that you will pull this out for a listen after the Holiday season is long gone.
